Battered but Unbroken

Long forgotten storms
Wailed at your limbs
Driving you to the ground
Battered but unbroken
You reach toward the sky
Gnarled and twisted
Your ancient branches withered
Yet life springs forth
Seeds of evergreen
Sprout from your fingers
Demonstrating strength unmatched
Refusal to stay beaten
Seeking protection from the wind
In the arms of fate
Knowing you’re not alone
The earth littered with majesty
Stolen in youth and ignored
Until someone sees your beauty
